Fun on the South Side
There's loads of fun on the Sahside! I'm hoping more of these folks will go online themselves.

** In Pittsburgh's Best Blues
***> Sent by Michael Fonas at landt119@sgi.net: The Blues Cafe is a
great place to see live misic. With the tragic demise of the DECADE in Oakland, the Blues Cafe is in a class by itself. Ask for Pete, Percy or Bobby for the coldest beer in town. (2/20/96)

Check this place out on Saturdays where they have 3 bands beginning at
1:00PM and going until 2:00-3:00 AM. The special feature is Tony Janflone and In Synch where Tony does his entire show while strutting on the bar. (4/28/95)

Possibly the best blues bar in Pittsburgh. And with a recent merger
with Primanti Bros., a very good place to eat. Check out Happy Hour with Michael Todd every Friday from 5:30-7:30. (Great accoustic tunes!)

***> The noted band Jill West and Blues Attack is a frequent attraction.
- City Theatre
- At 57 South 13th Street, the City Theatre is located at the corner of 13th and Bingham (one street closer to the river from E. Carson). 412-431-CITY, Fax:412-431-5535
Entering its 22nd season as one of the finest professional theatres in the tri-state region, City Theatre provides and artistic home for the development and production of quality, contemporary plays of substance and originality. Critically acclaimed, its productions consistently rank among the region's best.
- Excuses
- Excuses is located at 2526 E. Carson. Great bands and a blues jam on Thursday evenings.
***> Sent by Jesaca (6/14/01). Excuses is in a long process of remodeling the front. After the owner settled a lawsuit brought against several South Side bars for not being handicapped accessible (after Excuses settled, the suit was dropped against the other bars), the remodeling began. Once finished, will look like the other "Main Street" turn-of-the-century store fronts, instead of a hole-in-the-wall.

I was looking at your great web page and noticed that you forgot
something. I have been living in the South Side for all 18 years of my
life, and one of the most fun things to do is go to the Neville Ice Arena.
They have public sessions on weekday afternoons and friday nights for $4
and $1.50-$2 for skate rental. There are also pick-up games and college
games featuring Pitt and Duquesne.People can also check out the nostalgic
wall of fame. On about 300 tiles, there are autographs from Mario Lemieux,
Wayne Gretzky, Paul Coffey, and many others. Penguin player Joe Mullen even
shows up now and then. It is located on 21st street below the Mission
Street bridge, and can be reached at 68-skate (687-5283) over the phone.
