We, the people of East Liberty Presbyterian Church, envision a growing, metropolitan church family that is a vital, inclusive ministering congregation in our urban setting. Enriched by the roots of our Christian faith and our congregation's heritage, we seek to learn and grow in our
ability to manifest the redeeming life in Christ in ways that manifest the following core values:
Our vision for the future of ELPC is focused on a dynamic of comprehensive Christian growth from which the following three priorities for our congregation emerge:
In fulfilling this vision we believe we are called to continue performing those tasks which are presently set forth in our church organizational manual as the basic duties of our church boards
and committees and the responsibilities of our staff.* In addition, however, in the months and years immediately ahead, we believe we are especially called in the following ways:
A. We believe that God has a good plan for our congregation and grants us the vision and the
gifts to bring it to pass;
B. We believe that God calls us to share the love of Christ and to increase our numbers by
attracting new members and friends who are not presently part of a Christian community;
C. We believe that God calls us to provide vital and diverse opportunities for celebration and participation in worship, music and the arts;
D. We believe that God calls us to encourage and facilitate the active participation of all
ELPC members and friends in community, national, and global mission;
E. We believe that God calls us to provide Christian education programs to root us in our
faith and training programs to develop and equip us for leadership, care giving, mission, discipleship, and personal and spiritual growth;
F. We believe that God calls us to develop programs that provide for individual and family nurture, fellowship, and care;
G. We believe that God calls us to maintain, equip, and improve our building and grounds to serve our mission and vision;
H. We believe that God calls us to develop and maintain quality contemporary communications systems to spread the good news;
I. We believe that God calls us to develop and pursue a sound financial plan to serve our mission and vision;
J. We believe that God calls us to continue developing responsive Christian stewardship among our members and friends;
K. We believe that God calls us to hire and support staff who can lead us and work with us to achieve our vision; and
L. We believe that God calls us to develop an open, efficient and effective organizational structure to serve our vision.
